A former penal settlement, this large hilly island has been transformed into a tranquil getaway with swimming lagoons, beaches, picnic grounds, trekking routes and soccer fields. It is perfect for a weekend visit.

Getting There: Take a ferry from the Singapore Cruise Centre located at the World Trade Centre. Ferries depart at 10am & 1.30pm (Mon to Sat), and at 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm (Sun and public holidays). Return ferries from St John's Island depart at 11.15am and 2.45pm (Mon to Sat), and at 10.15am, 12.15pm, 2.15pm, 4.15pm and 6.15pm (Sun and public holidays). Duration of the ride is 45 minutes each way. Cost of the ride (return journey) is SGD 9.00 adults, SGD 6.00 children (under 12 years). During the annual Kusu season pilgrimage (lasts for a month from 6 oct - 4 Nov 2002), the ferry service to St John's Island will be suspended.
